With his latest two-hour, double-disc opus, These Hopeful Machines, BT definitively weaves both the technical prowess and compositional mastery that reminds us all why he's the composer that all other composers and producers study. As with previous albums, These Hopeful Machines is rife with vocal collaborations that expose BT's influences and bend them toward his unique perceptions of song structure and sonic parity. Many tracks feature his signature stutter edits created by his own Breaktweaker software. By consistently balancing creative and memorable songwriting, sonic innovation and the latest technology for a cutting-edge yet organic sound, BT has become one of the most revolutionary artists and sought after producers on the scene.

2Tries to do too much.  Jul 10, 2010
I am a huge BT fan, but I think he is trying to do way too much on this album.

5BRILLIANT-A Must Have  Jun 05, 2010
It's so good, I can't get this out of my CD player! It's a double CD, and every track is great. Songs are catchy, hypnotic, & creative; better yet, the music forces you to feel & contemplate. There are very few musicians/artists that truly push music forward in my opinion; BT is one of them, and he does it successfully. This is coming from someone that has 11,000+ songs in his itunes collection. My only regret is when the last track ends, I wish there was more. Have no regrets buying this - get it. BT delivers!

5Better Every Time  Jun 01, 2010
You will never get tired of this album, because the quality of sound and content of the music will be the deepest in your collection (rivaled only by This Binary Universe, which is a completely different journey). I could say much more, but most of it's been said here already.

As for the reviews which opine that ESCM is better than this... ESCM laid the foundations of a beautiful world that will last forever in the permanancy of music and endure forever with the malleability of music. THM is the array of skyscrapers built on top of that foundation. You shouldn't compare the two, except to say that both are fantastic and indispensable.

My top songs have changed a few times, but are currently:

Every Other Way
A Million Stars
Forget Me

4just get emergency  May 28, 2010
The rest of the album is good but not great. Emergency is easily the best song, the rest is not as uplifting as I would have liked and expected from hearing this track.
