In addition to his famous female consorts and 20+ year marriage to Catherine of Aragon to the infamous dalliance with Anne Boleyn, the series delves in to Henry’s most notable political relationship and the deconstruction of the Roman Catholic Church in England. | | | |

fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mar 19, 2010 I have seen just about everything ever done about the Tudors and Henry the eigth. Johnathon Meyers may not look like the original but he gives a fabulous performance. After a while you tend to associate him with the king.

Not thrilled Mar 09, 2010 As a serious Tudor buff this series was on a whole disappointing - a soap opera set in Tudor England starring Henry the VIII. The costumes, the hairstyles and even the speech patterns all wrong! Forget about historical fact. Tudor history has so much rich political and religious intrigue it could keep any scriptwriter in material for years why the writers felt they had to fictionalize I do not know.
The cast is ok, although Henry the VIII never ages, and some of the cast choices left me scratching my head, Sam Neill as Cardinal Wolsey just was not convincing.
I would recommend this for anyone who likes costume dramas without any expectations. This is not historical fact, but that is why they call it Showtime.

Excellent Feb 06, 2010 This is an entertaining account of the very famous Henry V111. The characters are all portrayed beautifully. Jonathan RM is very good, Sam Neal, is also very good as the sometimes very conniving character. A little bit of poetic licence is used as to the historic detail, but if not an actual history lesson, you get a very entertaining rendition of the era.
