I bought this to listen to books on CD in my car, since my car CD player no longer works. This is the ideal product for that purpose. It was a bit difficult to figure out the correct setting so the player would start where it stopped. Finally I figured out the combination: When you need to stop listening, press the stop button. When you're back in the car ready to listen, press the play button. Be sure you don't turn off the car without pressing the stop button. If you do, the CD will start at the beginning.

This kit DOESN'T come with instructions.
If your cigarette lighter has continual power with the key off ~
1. To keep your place - press the FIRST button to the right of the display window,
BEFORE you unplug the cigarette lighter adapter.
That's the STOP button which stops the player & remembers your place.
Nothing will show in the display window.
The stop button will keep your place when there's no power to the player.
Further more, it will keep that place even if you open the player, and remover the disc.
When you re-insert the same disc it will still start from your saved place.
If you change disc the memory is cleared and the player starts over.
2. To resume play after you've pressed the stop button, PLUG IN player,
PRESS the SECOND button to the right of the display window to continue.
This button is two fold, PLAY & PAUSE.
It continues were you left off from stopping, or if you DON'T unplug the player,
it will pause in place until you press it again.
Another difference between the two buttons ~
When the FIRST button (STOP) is pressed, nothing is shown in the window.
When the SECOND button (PLAY - PAUSE) is pressed, the display flashes the track your on.
There are five buttons to the left of the display window.
1. First button to left of window ~ slide button opens the case.
2. Second button ~ volume up.
3. Third button ~ volume down.
4. Fourth button ~ P. Mode button ~ this provides two choices.
~ First time it's pressed ~ the number "1" appears in the display window ~
This is another way to keep your place ~ press the STOP button to turn off player ~
when you later press the play button ~ it picks up where you left off.
This is also nice if you're powered by batteries & need to change them ~
press to show #1 ~ open case, change batteries, CD back in player,
press play button & it starts where you left off.
~ Second time it's pressed ~ SURF shows in the display window ~
of course that randomly plays tracks in various orders.
5. Fifth button ~ Sound/Avls ~ With this off the music has the most treble sounds.
~ First time pressed ~ SND1 appears in window & the sound has a little more bass ~
~ Second time pressed ~ SND2 appears & provides the most bass.
A hold button on the bottom of the player
locks all buttons so the settings can't accidentally be changed.
The player sounds great, and the hum of the cassette adepter
isn't any louder then other kits I've had.
It has good volume, but you do have to turn the radio up quite a bit,
and if you don't remember to turn it down when you switch to radio, it will blast you out.
This kit is a good value containing the two essential car adopters ~
power cord for the cigarette lighter ~ cassette adapter & ear clip headphones.
Having bought this to listen to books on C.D. in my truck,
I've found it's to my advantage to learn how to locate the buttons by FEEL,
other-wise it's an unsafe driving distraction.
At night that issue is even more challenging.
Some inconvenience's are:
No instructions are included.
The buttons are the same color as the player.
The buttons are located on the side of the player, making them more difficult to find.
Disappointing it DOES NOT play MP3.
Footnote: When a cigarette lighter has continual power directly from the battery
an automobile key doesn't have anything to do with the power to the player.
Therefore the key doesn't have anything to do with the players memory.
Of course the key is the power source needed to run the radio for sound.

I like the Player. Unfortunately the one we received with the same model number does not play MP3. It says on the body CD/CDR-W not MP3. So be careful!

excellent product however the buttons are black as well as the body of it, hard to see. the sound is great and i already dropped it on a tile floor and it was fine. good purchase

It's as advertised......nothing fancy, just plays your cd's well without skipping. bass management is a plus.
